ScratchWraps are a cost effective way to protect your investment. If the screen on your device gets badly scratched it could make it virtually useless. The longer you can keep it looking as good as new the longer you can appreciate it and the more money you will get when you decide to sell it and upgrade. My device is already scratched. Can I still use ScratchWraps? Absolutely! You will prevent further damage and many customers have reported that a ScratchWrap actually hides existing scratches. Does it cover my gadget totally? That depends on the gadget. On the iPod Video for example the only bits left exposed are the hold switch, the dock connector, the ear bud jack and a very small part of each corner. The front, side and back are completely protected (unlike certain other skins!) and there is even a cover for the click wheel and centre button included if you want total coverage. But not before you want it too. You’ll need to lift a corner with your fingernail or a knife then slowly pull it off diagonally towards the opposite corner. You won’t be able to reuse the ScratchWrap though as the act of pulling it off deforms it and the adhesive was already used the first time you applied it. But what about cases? There are hundreds, if not thousands of cases out there for iPods, PSP’s etc, but lets face it, cases aren’t cool. Why buy a sleek, well designed gadget only to hide it away in a bulky plastic or silicone case? With a ScratchWrap in place, you are protected, but not hindered and you can still use accessories, like the iPod dock etc, with your device. A case may offer better impact protection but many have to be removed before you can use your device and that constant removal of the case actually causes scratches rather than prevents them. Do ScratchWraps change the look of my gadget? ScratchWraps are so thin and transparent that they are virtually undetectable. You need to look very closely to see anything. Do I really need to use water when installing ScratchWraps? Yes, but don’t worry. The small amount of water used during installation will not harm any hand held devices. You only use a tiny amount and it’s only applied to the wrap, not directly to the device. Because it’s such a small amount and there’s no pressure forcing it in, the surface tension keeps it out. All these films need water to apply them, it’s just certain other companies have the cheek to charge you for a bottle of what they call “application solution” when all you need is slightly soapy water. You only get a replacement under certain circumstances and even then you need to pay a ‘handling fee’ to get your ‘free’ replacement. The chance of your ScratchWrap being damaged before you sell or upgrade your device is very slim, and you could buy 2 or 3 ScratchWraps for the price of an alternative that comes with a guarantee you will likely never use.
